Dear Foothills Family,

As you know the recommended responses to COVID19 are changing by the day. The attitudes of people range from scoffing at the overreaction, to fear/hysteria of the worst.  Please know we are prayerfully and regularly processing information from state and local health officials in order to determine how to best respond to this rapidly changing situation.

Thursday morning we learned the California Department of Public Health issued new “Gathering Guidelines” calling for the cancellation of all gatherings of people numbering 250 or more, smaller gatherings where social distancing of six feet per person is not possible, and gatherings of 10 or more older adults, those with underlying health conditions, or compromised immune systems. (Click Here)

As a result of these new guidelines, and out of an abundance of caution for all of our Foothills Family members, we have decided to suspend both our LIVE and our Chapel Services through the end of March. This includes the Sunday morning Adult Bible Study at 9:30 which meets in room 207-208 in the EDC, as well as Foothills Seniors which meets on Wednesday afternoons. AWANA will also be cancelled through the end of March. Those involved in Sr. Nutrition are already aware of changes impacting that program. Please click here for further details regarding Sr. Nutrition: Click Here.

For directives about other midweek programs, please watch for email or text notifications from your ministry leads. During this time, individuals and families must choose the best course of action for themselves, given their specific circumstances.

I will be recording my sermons and posting them for viewing on Sunday morning. I encourage you to view them with your family or even your small group if that is appropriate. I’ll be wrapping up our Included series this Sunday and the following weeks I will be leading us through a series called The Superiority of Easter designed to ready our hearts for Easter. This is an unprecedented situation that attempts to threaten our peace and sense of security.  Our Ephesians series calls us to live wisely, not foolishly. Thankfully, we know that “He himself is our peace” (Ephesians 2:22).  The enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus comes so that we might have life, abundant and free! (John 10:10).  Philippians 4:4-7 tells us that He is near and that He gives us a peace that passes understanding.

Finally, please realize our many ministries and fixed costs of serving others are ongoing so we appreciate your continued faithfulness in giving. If you normally give through check or cash, we ask that you consider giving through our online giving portal available here: http://www.foothillscp.org/online-giving/ If you would like to continue giving through check or cash, our office will remain open during the week and you can drop your gift off Monday Through Thursday between the hours of 8:30 and 4:30 (office closed 11;30-12:30 for lunch). Or you may mail your check to our office at the following address: Foothills Church, 3939 Cambridge Road, Suite 230, 95682.

It will be interesting to see how God shows up in these uncharted waters. This is NOT a surprise to him.

  • Please make this whole situation for our country and world a matter of prayer.
  • Remain vigilant and alert for ways you can support and serve others in your neighborhood or region.
  • In all you do, seek to radiate the love, compassion, and peace the Lord makes possible during difficult times. Now is the time to extend the second greatest commandment – to love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves – by taking concrete steps to prevent the rapid spread of COVID-19.

Serving here with you
Pastor Brian
